Job Summary

The Lead System Architect is responsible for leading the architecture team in the design, development, and implementation of complex systems. This role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, and ensuring that architectural solutions align with business goals and technical standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Leads a team of system architects and engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical direction.
• Mentors junior architects and engineers, fostering their professional development and growth.
• Defines and implements the architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
• Develops and maintains architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Works closely with stakeholders, including executive management, to understand business requirements and translate them into architectural solutions.
• Communicates architecture strategies, decisions, and status updates to stakeholders.
• Reviews and approves architectural designs, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and security standards.
• Conducts architecture assessments and reviews to identify areas for improvement.
• Oversees the execution of architecture projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
• Manages project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
• Drives innovation within the architecture team, promoting the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• Continuously evaluates and improves architecture processes and practices.
• Experience with gathering and modeling data for system capacity and licensing planning.

Education

Level: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS, MA/MS, Ph.D.) in a related field. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

Work Experience: Minimum of 12-15 years' progressive experience in a related field.

Licenses and Certifications

Relevant licenses and certifications preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of system architecture principles and practices.
• Deep understanding of system integration and interoperability.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
• Proficient in microservices architecture and containerization.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
• Ability to develop and communicate a clear architectural vision.
• Ability to align architectural solutions with business goals and requirements.
• Experience in overseeing the implementation of complex systems.
• Experience in building system capacity forecasts.

Travel Requirements

Up to 75% of the time, including domestic and international travel.
