Job summary

Langham Recruitment is seeking a Lead Engineer - Structures in Norwich to guide the STRC team and deliver high‑quality structural analyses for simulator subsystems. You will set direction, allocate resources and drive technical leadership in collaboration with the Chief Designer and Technical Director.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Substantial structural analysis experience, including problem-solving and project delivery.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks FEA tools.
• Experience leading or managing an engineering team.
• Experience coordinating engineering activities and resources to meet project requirements.
• Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural analysis of simulator subsystems, including cabins, access systems and motion stages.
• Lead assigned structural analysis projects and workstreams from concept to delivery.
• Develop load cases for analysis and coordinate with other groups.
• Analyse strength, stiffness and mass of mechanical and CFRP components.
• Formally report analysis results and sign off team reports.
• Join and contribute to design reviews and advise on optimisation.
• Develop and maintain methodology, documentation and processes within STRC.
• Collaborate with external CAE tool suppliers and bring work in-house where possible.
• Advise on testing procedures and support validation activities.
• Review testing results to ensure designs meet requirements.
• Lead and develop the STRC team and coordinate workload.
• Plan priorities and ensure delivery against timescales.
