Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join Kier Design in a role based in Liverpool/Birmingham/Wymondham. The position offers a 40-hour week with flexible hours and focuses on large, multi-storey buildings across education, defence, retail and commercial sectors.

You will lead major projects, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with Building Control to ensure Building Safety Act compliance, while delivering sustainable structural solutions in a dynamic team setting.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with professional membership of IStructE or ICE.
• Experience in structural steelwork and reinforced concrete design to current European Standards for large and multi-storey permanent buildings.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Building Safety Act for UK projects.
• Experience using structural design software TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries and Revit Structures.
• Holding a Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead structural engineer on major and complex building structures projects.
• Prepare fee proposals, activity schedules, negotiating appointments, resource planning and risk management.
• Mentor other Structural Engineers and Technicians while supporting CPD.
• Produce and check structural design calculations, drawings, models, reports, specifications and schedules.
• Lead design at project meetings and liaise with Building Control and authorities for Building Safety Act compliance.
