Job summary

Leicestershire County Council, based at County Hall in Leicester, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Specialist Teacher for Assistive Technology to lead strategic AT provision for SEND across the county. The role combines leadership with delivery of training, assessment coordination and resource management to improve outcomes for learners aged 5–19.

The post focuses on policy influence, service development, and partnership working with schools, families, and agencies, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and QTS with evidence of further professional training in SEND and assistive technology or ICT.
• Substantial experience with school-age children and young people with SEND, applying assistive technology or ICT to improve learning, communication and inclusion.
• Experience leading service development, with data-driven evaluation for improvement and budget/resource management.
• Proven ability to partner with schools, families and agencies to improve outcomes within a multi-agency context.
• Experience delivering training and professional development for inclusive practice and SEND support.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to supervise and develop others.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development and QA of assistive technology and ICT provision for SEND across the county.
• Provide expert advice to the Local Authority on policy, practice and resource allocation for AT/ICT.
• Lead training and professional learning opportunities to enhance workforce capability.
• Coordinate procurement, management and evaluation of AT/ICT resources across educational settings.
