Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Specialist Teacher for Assistive Technology to lead strategic development across the county. The role focuses on AT provision, ICT integration, and evidence‑based practice, delivering training and expert guidance to schools and partners.

The post leads professional learning, oversees resource management, and collaborates with families and agencies to improve SEND outcomes for children and young people aged 5–19.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and QTS with evidence of further professional training in SEND and assistive technology or ICT.
• Substantial experience with school-age children and young people with SEND, applying AT/ICT to learning and inclusion.
• Experience leading service development, strategic projects or quality assurance with data to evaluate impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development, quality assurance, and improvement of assistive technology and ICT provision for learners with SEND.
• Provide expert advice to the Local Authority on policy, practice, and resource allocation for AT and inclusive technology.
• Deliver training and professional learning opportunities to enhance workforce capability.
• Coordinate procurement, management, and evaluation of AT resources and ICT equipment.
