Job summary

Cornwall Council’s Communication Support Team is seeking an enthusiastic Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work across schools and settings in Cornwall. You will develop support in settings for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, including delivering whole-setting accessible training and peer support.

You will also provide specialist assessments and intervention for a small caseload, undertake Education Health and Care Needs Assessments, and

Qualifications

• You will be a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for SEND.
• You will be registered with the HCPC.
• You will be skilled at developing and delivering training as well as working holistically to improve learner outcomes.
• You will have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
• You will have knowledge of different SLCN types and implications for development and education.

Responsibilities

• Develop support in settings for children and young people with SLCN.
• Deliver whole-setting training and peer support.
• Identify inclusive strategies and advise on implementation.
• Provide specialist assessments and intervention for a small caseload.
• Undertake Education Health and Care Needs Assessments as required.
• Produce high-quality written reports and participate in peer reviews.
• Develop close working relationships with colleagues in the team, NHS and Local Authority Social Care.
• Manage your own diary and work independently with children and young people at the heart of your work.
