Cornwall-Staff-Agency-Ltd in Newquay, Cornwall, is seeking a talented Sous Chef for a four-star hotel kitchen. You will support the Head Chef, lead the kitchen team during service and help deliver exceptional dishes for hotel guests.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen at sous chef or senior chef level.
• Strong leadership and ability to take charge when required.
• Passion for cooking and delivering consistently high standards.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safety procedures and kitchen compliance.
• Understanding of stock control, purchasing and food cost management.
• Ability to work under pressure and lead by example.
• Team-focused with positive work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Lead, motivate and support the kitchen team during service.
• Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, flavour and presentation.
• Train and develop junior chefs.
• Assist with menu planning, dish development and menu costing.
• Managing food purchasing and helping control kitchen costs.
• Monitoring stock and minimising food waste.
• Ensuring food safety, hygiene, labelling and temperature controls are followed.
• Maintaining kitchen equipment and arranging repairs when needed.
• Supporting staff appraisals and ongoing team development.
• Ensuring every service runs smoothly and guests receive an excellent dining experience.
