Job summary

Lockheed Martin Gloucester is seeking Lead Software Engineers to work across Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes. You will define technical direction, architect end-to-end solutions, and mentor a growing team to deliver secure, scalable software for UK digital infrastructure.

You'll partner with product owners and customers, drive architecture decisions, ensure quality and security, and foster a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Proven delivery of complex, high visibility initiatives in a professional engineering environment.
• Hands on knowledge of Linux, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing and ability to translate to pipelines.
• Ability to weigh technical trade-offs, articulate rationale, and communicate decisions to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Defining long term technical strategy and guiding system design, shaping the product trajectory.
• Acting as the technical liaison between engineering, product, operations and customers, ensuring alignment.
• Overseeing design, build, test, deployment readiness, and ensuring performance and maintainability.
• Coaching junior and mid level engineers, sharing knowledge, and fostering continuous learning.
