Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking a senior software engineer to design and implement innovative software solutions across frontend, backend, and data pipelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive architecture decisions, ensure secure development practices, and promote AI-enabled tooling to accelerate delivery.

The role emphasizes strong fundamentals in system design, cloud platforms (AWS), and experience with large-scale data architectures within the financial services sector.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Strong software engineering fundamentals - system design, data structures, algorithms, and architectural thinking
• Hands-on practical experience in full-stack or cross-functional development across frontend, backend, data pipelines, or mobile
• Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot, Python/PySpark, GraphQL, or mobile development frameworks
• Experience with AWS and relational/distributed data platforms, e.g., Oracle, Databricks
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, and secure software development practices
• Proficient in SDLC design, development, testing and production operations
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts and integrating AI into business apps
• Experience with enterprise AI-assisted development tools and evaluating AI outputs
• Understanding of responsible AI use and security considerations
• Knowledge of the financial services industry IT systems

Responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and troubleshooting for complex problems
• Develop secure production code and review/debug code written by others
• Identify opportunities to automate remediation and improve operational stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams on architecture and applicability
• Lead communities of practice to promote new and leading-edge technologies
• Foster team culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect
• Promote AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed while ensuring security and testing standards
• Apply SDLC tools, including enterprise AI-assisted development, to improve automation value
