Job summary

easyJet holidays is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to drive real-time data across the Operational Data Platform. You’ll shape design decisions, set standards, and own delivery for data models used by multiple domains. You’ll supervise a team and collaborate with developers to ensure scalable, compliant data assets.

You’ll influence architecture choices, manage governance, and align with business goals while navigating complex dependencies within a hybrid, UK-based role.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and running bespoke OLTP systems with high concurrency.
• Experience with Postgres, DuckDB, Databricks or AWS Aurora.
• Broad experience with streaming technologies and real-time data.
• Experience establishing ETL/ELT tooling: Dagster, dbt, AWS Glue, Airflow.
• Experience developing data interfaces and APIs for developers.
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript for platform collaboration.
• Experience with AWS-based data tooling and governance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of the Operational Holidays Data Model.
• Build reusable data assets across domains with developers.
• Design monitoring and maintenance patterns for reliability.
• Prioritize data engineering initiatives across teams.
• Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers and platform developers.
• Ensure governance and compliance across the data estate.
• Manage platform usage and costs with the platform team.
• Support ad hoc analysis and model development as needed.
