Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead a team of up to 40 QS across AMP8. You will ensure contractual compliance, develop procurement strategies and manage budgets on major projects up to £400m per year. Hybrid role with base in Reading, requiring chartered status or RICS knowledge and strong stakeholder engagement.

You will mentor staff, provide commercial dispute advice and support the Head of Commercial in strategy and governance, delivering value to customers.

Qualifications

• Degree or master’s in quantity surveying or equivalent.
• Experience in civil engineering sectors (transport, nuclear, utilities).
• Line managing a team of up to 40 QS.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and assessing contractual risk.
• Chartered or detailed knowledge of the RICS.
• Full UK driving license and own transport.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of water regulation (OFWAT) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure contractual compliance on all contracts.
• Develop and advise on procurement strategies for the delivery area.
• Provide commercial support to supplier management and third-party contractors.
• Manage performance reporting and team development.
• Advise on budgets and spend, and govern contract financials.
• Provide commercial dispute advice and resolve claims as required.
