Job summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor role at Thames Water leads a team of QSs across major projects, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance. You’ll guide commercial assurance, advise delivery teams, and manage budgets for a diverse project portfolio with values from £25k to £200M.

Based in Reading with hybrid work and a 36-hour week, you will influence tender decisions, monitor payments, resolve claims, and mentor team members while staying aligned with OFWAT frameworks and water industry

Qualifications

• Have extensive experience in commercially managing a portfolio of projects, both pre- and post-contract.
• Have recent experience in managing a QS Team.
• Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Have strong Communication and Stakeholder Management skills.
• Be confident in negotiation and have applied dispute resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing Commercial Assurance of Major Projects and Programmes Contracts.
• Providing Contractual advice and support to Delivery Teams.
• Management of Team Members.
• Challenging and agreeing on Project Tenders.
• Ensuring that payments are made on time and in accordance with the Contract.
• Advising and supporting the management and optimisation of budgets and spending on the portfolio of Projects.
• Supporting the Principal and Managing Quantity Surveyor with the resolution of Claims as necessary.
