GM Performance Power Units in Bedford, UK, seeks a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to lead advanced dimensional inspections using CMMs and optical systems, and to develop inspection programs that meet tight production and R&D needs.

You will interpret GD&T on aerospace/automotive drawings, mentor junior staff, and work with Quality Engineers to improve inspection strategies within a fast-paced Formula 1 environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on metrology or quality inspection experience.
• Strong practical experience with tactile CMMs and optical systems.
• Proficiency with CMM/optical software (e.g., Zeiss Calypso).
• Advanced GD&T knowledge for complex aerospace/ automotive drawings.
• Ability to solve problems and work independently.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute complex inspections using CMMs, structured light and lasers.
• Develop and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD models.
• Interpret GD&T and advise on measurement feasibility and results.
• Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances with data-driven input.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in equipment use and reporting.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers to improve inspection strategies and workflows.
• Drive continuous improvement in metrology accuracy, efficiency and repeatability.
• Ensure inspections comply with internal QMS and FIA regulations.
