Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Leeds seeks a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to lead advanced dimensional inspection using tactile CMMs and optical systems, ensuring accurate data for production and R&D components.

You will develop inspection programs from CAD drawings, mentor junior technicians, and drive metrology improvements in a fast-paced motorsport environment while ensuring compliance with QMS and FIA regulations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on metrology or quality inspection experience with tactile CMMs and optical systems.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to work from aerospace/automotive drawings.
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute complex inspections using CMMs, structured light scanners, and laser systems.
• Develop and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD models and drawings.
• Interpret GD&T requirements and advise on measurement feasibility and results.
• Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances and support root-cause analysis.
• Train and mentor junior technicians; collaborate to improve inspection workflows.
