Job summary
GM Performance Power Units is seeking a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to lead dimensional inspection activities using tactile CMMs and optical systems. You will develop and optimize inspection programs from CAD models and mentor junior technicians in measurement methods.
The role emphasizes GD&T proficiency and collaboration with engineering to improve inspection strategies in a fast-paced motorsport environment.
Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or technical diploma with hands-on metrology experience.
- Strong experience with tactile CMMs and optical systems.
- Proficient in CMM/optical software (e.g., Zeiss Calypso).
- Advanced GD&T knowledge for aerospace/automotive drawings.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and independent work abilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute inspections using CMMs, structured light scanners, lasers and other metrology tools.
- Develop, optimize, and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD models.
- Interpret complex GD&T requirements and advise on measurement feasibility.
- Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances and support root cause analysis.
- Train and mentor junior technicians in equipment use and reporting.
