Job summary

SSEN Transmission Onshore AC, part of SSE plc, seeks a Lead Project Engineer based in Scotland to drive high‑value transmission projects from initial development through delivery, commissioning and handover to operations. You will lead project teams, co-ordinate interfaces across disciplines, mentor engineers, and ensure CDM/ESQCR compliance while delivering design assurance reviews for governance.

The role requires a full driving licence and flexibility to travel, with base locations including

Qualifications

• Experience delivering transmission projects from concept through handover.
• Strong communication to present complex technical information clearly.
• Mentoring and coaching of engineers within the team.
• Good knowledge of CDM and ESQCR regulations and implications.
• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering; Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support project teams across transmission projects with leadership and coordination.
• Collaborate with engineers and managers to mitigate design risks in pre-construction.
• Ensure CDM procedures and regulatory requirements are followed in design.
• Coordinate design assurance reviews and governance gate documentation.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and work with consultants/contractors for decisions.
