Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Lead Project Engineer for the Onshore team in Scotland, responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineers on transmission projects to ensure safe, reliable power delivery.

Role covers substations, overhead lines and underground cables, with a requirement to base in Scotland and spend 50% of time in the office across Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex engineering projects in electricity transmission or similar infrastructure.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines and manage interfaces.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information to diverse stakeholders.
• A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering discipline; Chartered status is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver major transmission projects.
• Provide engineering governance and assurance across the project lifecycle.
• Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions balancing safety, quality, schedule and cost.
• Champion Safety by Design and manage design risks from early stages.
• Mentor engineers and build strong internal/external relationships.
