Job summary

Leonardo in Basildon is seeking a Project Engineering Lead to join the Test Engineering team, overseeing a multi-disciplinary group on a growing product portfolio. You will provide engineering leadership and ensure delivery of technical solutions in line with roadmaps and business needs.

The role requires delivering clear engineering plans, strong problem-solving, and robust schedule and budget control while maintaining open communication with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving ability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement across sites.
• Demonstrated leadership with collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering aspects of test engineering projects, ensuring quality, schedule and budget.
• Manage day-to-day tasks of a multi-disciplinary team with clearly defined roles.
• Create relationships with customers and partners to deliver project capability.
• Communicate progress with IPT leads, Project Managers and functional heads.
• Inform Design Authorities on technical progress and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure design solutions meet milestones and align with the product road map.
• Control configuration and change management to maximise design reuse.
• Support suppliers and make or buy decisions; capture concept solutions and trade-offs.
