Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior Process Engineer with 12+ years in process design to lead projects across chemicals, pharmaceutical and related industries. You will develop concept designs, PFDs/PDs, and hazard analyses, delivering technically excellent solutions from feasibility through construction support.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with multi-discipline teams, participate in design reviews and client briefs, and travel within the UK and overseas as required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in process engineering design for capital projects.
• Experience in fine chemicals, pharmaceutical or biopharma sectors.
• Experience in process safety systems design in high hazard industries.
• Experience in contracting environments is beneficial.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards for process industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design work for projects and studies.
• Concept design and layout development.
• Process descriptions and design basis.
• Material balances and PFD/PD optimization.
• Prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Hazardous area classification/assessment.
• Equipment lists and datasheets preparation.
• Fluid lists and materials selection.
• Support GMP reviews and safety studies (HAZOP/LOPA).
• Lead multiple discipline interfaces and design reviews.
• Provide cost/hours estimates for proposals and projects.
