Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a strategic Intelligence Lead to oversee strategic and tactical intelligence analysis within establishments. The post holder will provide leadership and management of the Prison Intelligence Unit, developing the intelligence picture across a range of threats affecting the establishment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee policy application and ensure it is followed (with Security CM).
• Ensure intelligence products are prepared by Prison Intelligence Unit and delivered in line with policy and frameworks.
• Task analysts and coordinate between the unit and other establishment functions; set appropriate terms of reference for intelligence analysis products.
• Obtain and evaluate information for intelligence analysis; apply structured analytical techniques to support decision making.
• Ensure local MDT results analysis is completed and reports provided to Head of Security and local drug strategy committee.
• Support intelligence-led tasks such as searching, drug testing, detector deployment, and operations requiring regional/national teams.
• Act as local Mercury system administrator; approve new accounts and ensure users understand SyOPs.
• Conduct monthly quality checks on Mercury reporting and processing; provide guidance and initiate performance management if standards not met.
• Manage databases of persons of interest and related nominals; update with new intelligence and communicate with decision makers to meet timescales.
• Perform quality assurance checks on requested intelligence reports for compliance with policy.
• Review and maintain effectiveness of local analysis processes.
• Ensure system for actions from IRs and intelligence products is followed up.
