Job summary

Kier Group in the Southeast England region seeks a Lead Principal Designer to join our Principal Design team. You will coordinate and assure delivery of Principal Designer services across a varied portfolio, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and Building Regulations, and work closely with project teams, clients and site colleagues.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in design, engineering, construction or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015 across complex projects.
• Experience leading multiple projects and overseeing Principal Designers or design safety professionals.
• Strong knowledge of design risk management, statutory duty holder requirements and proportionate assurance.
• Member of an appropriate professional institution; ability to travel regularly across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support Principal Designers across multiple projects, ensuring quality, compliance and client service expectations.
• Act as a senior technical adviser on CDM 2015 and Building Regulations Principal Designer requirements.
• Monitor performance across the project portfolio through reviews and assurance activities.
• Provide day‑to‑day direction and support to Principal Designers and escalate concerns.
• Assist with fee proposals, programmes and resource plans for Principal Designer services.
