Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Principal Designer with practical CDM 2015 experience to work across design, engineering and construction projects, focusing on the pre-construction phase.

The role requires handling routine Principal Designer duties on live projects with independence, and the ability to support the client’s Principal Designer services while liaising with clients, designers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Must have demonstrable knowledge of CDM 2015 and responsibilities of clients, designers, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors.
• Proven experience formally undertaking Principal Designer duties on live projects.
• Experience with design risk management, multidisciplinary coordination, reviewing technical information, and pre-construction information.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction design risk coordination and plan/manage health and safety during pre-construction.
• Collaborate with clients, designers and contractors to identify risks and promote design-based risk reduction.
• Review drawings and project information for buildability, access, sequencing and maintenance.
• Coordinate design risk reviews, maintain risk registers and communicate residual risks clearly.
• Support CDM file preparation and handover into construction phase; advise on practical CDM requirements.
