Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an exceptionally experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead complex power systems design projects in Randburg, South Africa. This senior role involves conceptualization, design, and implementation of robust electrical systems across energy generation, transmission, and distribution.

You will provide technical direction, manage project teams, and ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency while collaborating with clients and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in electrical power systems design and engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is mandatory.
• Experience in Randburg, Gauteng or significant projects across South Africa is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of power systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and drawings using industry-standard software.
• Conduct feasibility studies, load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protection coordination studies.
• Manage engineering project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Oversee the technical aspects of procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international standards and codes.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
• Conduct design reviews and risk assessments.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements and best practices in power systems engineering.
