Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Power & Distribution) to lead design efforts for complex building services projects in Randburg. You will develop power distribution schemes, run load studies, and prepare detailed drawings while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role offers a hybrid work model with a focus on delivery, compliance, and mentoring junior engineers. A strong portfolio and Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years in electrical engineering design with emphasis on power distribution.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP; familiarity with ETAP/DIgSILENT.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for power distribution from concept to detail design.
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, coordination and arc flash analyses.
• Create single-line diagrams, panel schedules, layouts and wiring details in CAD tools.
• Specify switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, and cabling.
• Ensure compliance with SANS/NEC/IEC and other standards.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural and architectural teams.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for conformity with design intent.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
