Job summary
To plan, supervise, and prioritise daily workload within the Procurement and Stores, ensuring requests from drug and alcohol teams are prioritised accordingly.
To support the Purchasing, Stores, and IT System Manager to ensure the procurement and stores operate efficiently, with a focus on patient and stakeholder needs. This includes maintaining accurate stock control, efficient rotation, and minimising waste.
To assist the Purchasing, Stores, and IT System Manager and Senior Pharmacy Technician in stores, distribution, purchasing, and invoicing to ensure the cost-effective procurement and supply of pharmaceuticals.
To support ward-based services related to the ordering and supply of medicines.
To work closely with the Senior Pharmacy Technician and procurement manager to meet training needs for ATOs and PTPT apprentices, ensuring their competencies are completed.
Main duties of the job
Key Duties:
Stock Management: Oversee and maintain accurate stock levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Manage receipt, storage, and distribution, adhering to Good Distribution Practice (GDP). Conduct regular stock checks and audits to resolve discrepancies.
Purchasing and Procurement: Process purchase orders, liaise with suppliers for timely delivery, monitor purchase systems, and ensure procurement aligns with NHS guidelines.
Technical Office Support: Provide administrative support, maintain accurate records, and utilize pharmacy systems for stock and procurement management.
Team Leadership: Supervise junior pharmacy staff, provide training, allocate tasks, and ensure SOP and policy adherence.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with legislation, maintain records for audits, and participate in quality initiatives.
