Job summary

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Paediatric Sonographer to lead and develop the Ultrasound service. You will manage the team, drive education, and ensure high-quality imaging across paediatric examinations.

The role involves strategic input with senior radiology leadership and alignment to national standards. Applicants should have a DMU/PgDip in Medical Ultrasound, HCPC registration, and proven management experience.

Qualifications

• DMU/PgDip in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited).
• HCPC Registration is essential.
• Management qualification or evidence of leadership training.
• Completion of GRAF Hip Scanning Course is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Ultrasound team in paediatric imaging.
• Manage sickness/absence, performance, and disciplinary processes.
• Develop plans to improve patient care in line with standards and policies.
• Ensure KPIs and governance standards are met in collaboration with Radiology management.
• Facilitate training and professional development of staff and students.
• Provide expert clinical and technical advice to sonographers and clinical staff.
• Uphold Trust and NHS values in professional conduct.
• Collaborate with Radiography leadership for seamless operations.
