Job summary

Sir Robert McAlpine is seeking experienced Package Manager candidates to join the delivery team for a major UK programme led in Bedfordshire. You will manage trade-contractor packages, lead engineers and subcontractors, and drive safety, quality and on-time delivery across complex infrastructure work.

You will report to the Project Manager, plan logistics within your package, produce short-term programmes, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with contract documents and drawings.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and experience delivering multi-million-pound building projects.
• Managed packages for multiple high-profile projects with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Experience with NEC contracts and management of Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events.
• Familiarity with construction software FieldView, 4P, Dalux and Asta.

Responsibilities

• Takes ownership of their package and ensures all works are planned, safe, and within their area.
• Leads a team of engineers and subcontractors to deliver to the highest safety and performance standards.
• Plans and oversees all logistics within their package and liaises with Works Manager and Logistics Contractor.
• Produces short-term programmes and phase plans to accelerate works or mitigate issues to keep to the accepted programme.
• Monitors progress vs. plan, reports on metrics, and informs Programme implications to Project Manager and package planner.
• Collaborates with infrastructure team members and contributes to big-picture decisions.
• Ensures contractual scope compliance and quality documentation (drawings, specs, ITPs).
• Records key events, manages technical submittals, and coordinates RFIs within the package scope.
