Job summary

North Yorkshire Council in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Health Nurse to head a nurse-led service. The role blends clinical leadership with operational direction in a hybrid work setting, with a permanent contract and 37 hours, with possible flexibility.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team, shape future service delivery, and advance workforce health across Yorkshire while maintaining high-quality, compliant occupational health provisions.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Occupational Health Nursing with clinic-based experience.
• Experience leading a nurse-led clinic and team.
• Registered General Nurse (Part 1) with OH qualification.
• Strong training and facilitation skills for learning materials.
• Experience developing policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
• SEQOHS accreditation knowledge is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the Occupational Health team and service.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintain service standards.
• Provide coaching and professional support to colleagues.
• Build strong client relationships and ensure responsive services.
• Act as a source of expert occupational health advice and guidance.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support public health, health promotion and wellbeing programmes.
