Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health) to join as an Occupational Health Business Partner. You will influence strategy, shape service delivery, and use OH expertise to improve workforce health, wellbeing and performance across North Yorkshire.

The role is largely remote with some in-person meetings in Northallerton. Working with senior leaders and managers, you will provide expert OH advice, lead health promotion

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse with post-registration OH experience.
• Experience influencing organisational decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage varied caseloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist clinical advice on fitness for work, rehabilitation, and workplace health risks
• Manage a complex caseload, supporting employees in sensitive or challenging situations
• Work in partnership with managers to address attendance, performance, and wellbeing concerns
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams on workforce health strategy
• Lead and contribute to health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
• Support organisational priorities by contributing to the People Strategy and service plans
• Represent Occupational Health in meetings, case conferences, and cross-service forums
• Ensure compliance with professional standards, legislation, and clinical governance requirements
• Shape and develop policies, influence practice, and identify emerging workforce health risks
• Job Plan provides protected time for business partnership tasks and workload planning
