Job summary

The Range in Plymouth is seeking a Security Operations Centre Nights Lead to oversee SOC Operators at the Head Office. You will manage incident response, escalations and ensure smooth night-time operation of CCTV, alarms and monitoring platforms.

This hands-on leadership role requires clear communication, sound judgement and resilience under pressure, with a focus on GDPR, confidentiality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success, we are seeking a dynamic Security Operations Centre Administrative Assistant to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.

About the Role:

The Range has invested in a 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC) to protect our people, assets, and operations nationwide. As a Nights Team Leader, you will oversee a team of SOC Operators, manage incident response and escalations, and ensure the effective operation of the SOC during night hours. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong communication, sound judgement, and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support SOC Nights Operators, ensuring the effective operation of the Security Operations Centre during night shifts.
• Act as the primary escalation point for security incidents, alarms, technical faults, and operational issues.
• Oversee CCTV, alarm systems, monitoring platforms, and routine system health checks, ensuring issues are responded to and escalated appropriately.
• Maintain accurate incident records, shift reports, and handovers, ensuring all activity is logged to company standards.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and emergency services as required.
• Support the development and performance of team members, ensuring adherence to SOC procedures and best practice.
• Identify operational risks, technical issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, incident response procedures, GDPR, data protection requirements, and confidentiality standards.

Person Specification:

Essential

• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Experience of incident management, CCTV, alarm monitoring, or security operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Desirable

• Experience within a 24/7 operational environment.
• Knowledge of CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, and security technologies.
• Experience of process improvement, SOP development, or first‑line technical troubleshooting.

Position: Permanent, Full‑time

Shift Pattern:

12‑hour nights 18:45pm to 06:45am, working a 4-on, 4-off rota.
