Job summary

Hastings Direct in the UK is seeking a Lead MLOps Engineer to design, build and maintain the infrastructure for the full ML lifecycle, enabling scalable data products and predictive models. You will influence tooling, standards, and operating models while collaborating with data scientists, data engineers and engineers to deliver measurable business value.

The role sits in the Telematics Data Value team, offers hybrid working across multiple UK locations, and requires strong Python and cloud ML

Qualifications

• Strong Python skills with experience building and operating ML solutions in cloud environments.
• Experience with MLOps tooling and practices, including CI/CD, containerisation, orchestration, model deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience using SQL and working with large-scale data platforms.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on ML platform architecture, shaping tooling, standards, and operating model for ML delivery.
• Develop and maintain automated workflows for feature generation, model training, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and ML Engineers to operationalise models and data products.
• Establish best practices for ML observability, model performance monitoring, CI/CD, versioning, governance, and reproducibility.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency of ML and data platforms.
• Work with cloud-native tech and infrastructure-as-code to support modern ML workloads.
• Present technical solutions to engineering, operational, and commercial stakeholders.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to engineering standards.
