Job summary

Sweco UK&I is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of innovative water solutions within AMP8. You will steer technical delivery, ensure safe, cost-effective designs, and mentor junior engineers to deliver robust, future-proof projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartered preferred.
• Proven mechanical design experience, ideally in water sector or complex infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review mechanical designs to ensure compliance, safety and performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget and to high quality standards.
• Promote digital tools and modular construction techniques.
• Drive Health & Safety by design, identify improvements and reduce whole-life costs.
• Champion sustainability, carbon reduction and innovation across the design lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
