Job summary

Sweco is seeking a proactive Principal Process Engineer to lead process design across AMP8 projects in the UK water sector. You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet standards and environmental requirements.

Role focuses on capital delivery, regulatory compliance, and integration with multidisciplinary teams. Ambitioned for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement with a collaborative, hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Extensive experience in the water sector, particularly process design and capital delivery projects.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and environmental requirements.
• Proven track record mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience in a Design & Build environment is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage process design workflow to deliver projects on time, within cost, and to quality standards.
• Review mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, and design documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Support design planning and stakeholder engagement for process design acceptance.
• Provide technical input for supplier contracts and deliverables review.
• Champion health, safety and welfare, ensuring compliance with process standards and hazardous area regulations.
