Job summary

Pertemps Network Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead the mechanical design team behind bespoke automation projects.

This hands-on leadership role covers design authority, production readiness, and project delivery across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially viable machinery.

You will mentor engineers, manage workloads, and drive continuous improvement while working on a range of industrial automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading mechanical design teams.
• Strong background in mechanical design with automation or SP machinery.
• Hands-on 3D CAD and engineering drawings expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the mechanical design team.
• Hands-on design and development of SP machinery and automation systems.
• Plan departmental resources and balance workloads across live projects.
• Oversee projects from concept through manufacture and commissioning.
• Ensure designs are safe, viable and manufacturable.
• Maintain high standards for 3D models, drawings and BOMs.
• Identify risks and report to Engineering Director.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and efficiency.
• Collaborate with PM, Manufacturing, Electrical, Controls and Procurement.
• Set goals and conduct performance reviews.
