Job summary

Hunter Selection has an exciting opportunity in Cheltenham for a Mechanical Design Manager. You will lead the mechanical design team, oversee bespoke automation and SP machinery, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.

The role requires a proven track record leading a design team, strong SP machinery experience, and proficiency with 3D CAD and BOMs, plus excellent communication and planning skills. Competitive salary and benefits are on offer.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Mechanical Design team.
• Background in special-purpose machinery, automation or robotics.
• Delivering projects from concept to manufacture.
• Proficient with 3D CAD, engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Mechanical Design team.
• Oversee the design of bespoke automation and special-purpose machinery.
• Manage workloads, resources and project priorities.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and standardisation initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, controls, electrical and project teams.
• Conduct performance reviews and support employee development.
