Job summary

Global Engineering Talent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead Building Services projects from concept through detailed design from our new Kings Cross office in London.

You will travel to London project sites and occasional visits to Peterborough HQ, working autonomously with minimal supervision. This contract role offers exposure to high-profile hotels and commercial developments and potential for longer-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering projects in Building Services/MEP consultancy.
• Ability to work independently through multiple design stages.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE and related standards.
• Experience designing HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage systems.
• Competence with design and calculation software; AutoCAD and Revit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to detailed design for Building Services projects.
• Design HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage systems.
• Produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports.
• Conduct heat-loss, cooling-load and energy calculations.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural and electrical disciplines.
• Attend client, design-team and site meetings; review drawings and information.
• Identify risks and resolve technical issues; manage workload to programme.
• Support junior engineers and help establish design standards for the London office.
