Job summary

The Oaks Early Learning Centre Canterbury is seeking a dedicated lead kaiako/assistant manager to work with tamariki, whanau and the team. This full-time role supports day-to-day leadership and fosters a collaborative learning environment.

You will bring leadership experience in early childhood, a current practising certificate and a commitment to Te Whāriki and high-quality teaching. We offer mentoring, development opportunities and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• You bring strong leadership, communication, relationship-building skills and are confident in mentoring, supporting and guiding the team.
• You are a proactive, approachable and collaborative leader.
• You have sound knowledge of Te Whāriki, current early childhood regulations, licensing requirements, and health and safety expectations.
• You understand effective planning, assessment, curriculum implementation, and intentional teaching practice.
• You are committed to upholding and strengthening our centre philosophy and core values.
• You are well organised, with excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail.
• You can nurture and maintain a positive, professional team culture.
• You are passionate about working with tamariki across all age groups.
• You have at least two years’ leadership experience in early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Lead kaiako role and assist in day-to-day leadership and management of the preschool.
• Support and collaborate with the team, tamariki and whanau to help children flourish.
• Work within centre hours and contribute to ongoing professional development.
