Job summary

Kiwi Kids Preschool in Christchurch is seeking an experienced centre manager to lead day-to-day operations and mentor the teaching team, ensuring high-quality teaching and curriculum delivery.

The role requires proven leadership in an ECE setting, a recognised ECE qualification, current teacher registration, and strong knowledge of ECE legislation, MOE funding, licensing criteria and ERO requirements.

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised ECE qualification and current full teacher registration.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in an ECE setting.
  • Able to coach, mentor and develop kaiako and lead a teaching team.
  • Strong understanding of ECE legislation, MOE funding, licensing criteria and ERO requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the centre and mentor the teaching team.
  • Promote high-quality teaching practice and curriculum delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with MOE licensing and ERO expectations.
  • Oversee policies, health and safety and continuous improvement.

Kiwi Kids Preschool is a privately owned Christchurch centre providing care and education for up to 98 children, including 25 babies. Our philosophy is built on freedom to play and explore, fun and laughter, manaakitanga, and a strong sense of whānau and community.

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring centre manager to lead our team and help shape the next stage of our centre’s journey.

About the role

You will lead the day-to-day operation of the centre, including:

  • Leading, supporting and mentoring our teaching team
  • Promoting high-quality teaching practice and curriculum delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education licensing requirements and ERO expectations
  • Overseeing policies, procedures, health and safety and continuous improvement
  • Supporting financial management, occupancy growth and strategic planning
  • Building strong relationships with children, whānau, staff and our local community.

Hours: 32–40 hours per week, depending on the successful candidate and operational needs.

Our ideal candidate will:
  • Hold a recognised ECE qualification and current full teacher registration
  • Have proven leadership and management experience in an ECE setting
  • Be approachable, calm, positive and an excellent communicator
  • Have a strong understanding of ECE legislation, MOE funding, licensing criteria and ERO requirements
  • Be confident in coaching, mentoring and developing kaiako
  • Have sound financial and operational awareness – Infocare experience is an advantage.
