Lead Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Basingstoke - 5 days onsite

Salary: £65K - £70K Max plus 10% DV bonus

Clearance: DV Clearance

CBSbutler Holdings Limited, trading as CBSbutler, is recruiting for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep infrastructure expertise, end-to-end ownership of solutions, and the ability to work collaboratively in a delivery-focused environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Own the full lifecycle of infrastructure work packages, from initial design through prototyping, deployment, and early life support.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional agile team, including security, service, and management functions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems and platforms.
• Script and automate repeatable unit tests to ensure functionality meets all requirements.
• Develop and maintain design and support documentation.
• Support continuous improvement by managing change requests and enhancements based on evolving user and business needs.

Skills and Experience include:

• Hands-on experience with Email & Directory Services: Exchange, Mail, MTA, SMTP, Border Sync, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS.
• Web & Server Infrastructure: IIS / Apache, Server Build & Configuration, PKI (TLS, Certificates), VMWare.
• Automation & Scripting: PowerShell, DevOps tools (Ansible, GIT, YAML).
• Experience scripting repeatable infrastructure configurations and deploying securely within enterprise environments.
• Strong documentation and communication skills to support design governance and operational transition.
