Job Opportunity: Infrastructure & Automation Engineer

Do you want to work in an environment where science and technology are at the forefront of safeguarding the UK?

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Automation Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and supporting secure, enterprise-grade solutions across Microsoft and Linux technologies in highly available environments. Your focus will be on leveraging automation to improve delivery and operational efficiency.

This hands-on technical role requires scripting, infrastructure design, and support skills. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to drive innovation through automation.

Must be able to commute to our sites in Salisbury or Portsmouth at least once a week.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement solutions that leverage automation capabilities.
2. Develop scripts and configurations supporting an infrastructure as code strategy.
3. Apply a DevOps and automation approach to solution delivery.
4. Provide technical support, mentoring, and fault resolution during project phases.
5. Support pre-sales activities by understanding user problems and defining technical requirements.
6. Ensure solutions adhere to best practices.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory design and implementation in multi-site, multi-tenant architectures.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools and scripting.
• Experience supporting complex system design and creating high-quality documentation.
• Knowledge of Broadcom and Microsoft virtualization technologies.
• Understanding of network security and TCP/IP networking.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, OCI).
• Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet.
• Knowledge of container technologies such as Kubernetes and Tanzu.
• Experience with Azure Entra Identity.
