Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Cable System Design Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team. You will drive technical excellence, lead complex HV/EHV cable projects, and engage with clients across the UK and globally.

This senior role requires coordinating between civil, structural, OHL, substation, and marine inputs, delivering innovative, standards-compliant solutions and mentoring the wider team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as technical leader in HV/EHV cable design.
• Experience in design, specification and installation of complex cable systems.
• Understanding of UK/International standards (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of large-scale HV/EHV cable projects from concept to completion.
• Develop and oversee HV cable system designs including routing and modelling.
• Provide input into ratings, installation methods, jointing, cleating and system integration.
