Job summary

Bristol Waste Company is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to lead the HGV fleet workshop, combining hands-on maintenance with supervisory duties. You will drive safe, efficient service delivery, maximise fleet availability, and mentor technicians.

The role combines technical work with leadership responsibilities in a hybrid setup. Essential qualifications include NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, a UK driving licence, and ideally an HGV licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent)
• UK Driving Licence
• HGV Licence (Class 1 or 2) desirable
• IRTEC Accreditation desirable
• Vehicle systems expertise across diesel engines, transmissions, braking, hydraulics, electricals

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise workshop technicians and apprentices.
• Allocate work to maximise productivity and turnaround times.
• Monitor KPIs: fleet availability, job completion, first-time fix rate.
• Ensure DVSA and regulatory standards compliance.
• Attend breakdowns roadside and at other sites as required.
