Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Ground Investigation Section Engineer to plan, supervise and deliver ground investigation projects across Scotland. You’ll work with drill crews, clients and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality and efficiency while contributing to tender activity and project delivery.

The role involves site-based work across the Highlands, Islands and remote locations, with a need for flexibility and the willingness to travel away from home when required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising ground investigation on-site across Scotland.
• Knowledge of soil/rock logging and sampling methods.
• Familiarity with field data collection and reporting standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate ground investigation works across Scotland.
• Supervise drill crews and subcontractors on site.
• Review specifications, drawings and investigation requirements.
• Ensure permits and approvals are in place before works begin.
• Manage health, safety and environmental performance.
• Supervise logging, sampling and in-situ testing.
• Manage AGS and digital data deliverables.
• Monitor programme performance and resources.
• Support commercial performance through monitoring and risk identification.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor graduates and junior engineers.
• Provide technical input into tenders and work-winning activities.
