Job summary

Understanding Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing AI start-up in London to hire a Lead Full Stack Engineer. You will design, develop and scale a core AI-powered platform, taking ownership of architecture and technical direction while leading a small team.

You’ll collaborate closely with the founders and Head of Engineering, applying React, Next.js, Node.js and NestJS to build scalable APIs and microservices in a hands-on leadership role.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with React and Next.js.
• Excellent knowledge of Node.js and NestJS.
• Experience leading engineers while remaining hands-on.
• Experience building scalable applications, APIs and microservices.
• Exposure to AI, LLMs or agentic AI development.
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and scale the core platform.
• Own key technical decisions and architecture.
• Lead a small engineering team and collaborate with founders.
• Work directly with the Head of Engineering to drive delivery.
