Job summary

NP Aerospace is seeking a Lead Engineer – Military Vehicle Systems in Coventry to drive the technical ownership of complex vehicle systems from concept to production. You will work across mechanical and electrical domains, shaping designs for reliability, survivability, and mission success.

Join a defence-focused team with a major MoD contract and collaborations with GM Defense, delivering spares, design services, and fleet support across NATO programmes.

Qualifications

• Proven strong understanding of electro-mechanical and mechanical system architecture.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and applying design standards (aerospace/defence preferred).
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, moulding, casting, sheet metal).

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of projects to ensure designs meet specifications and standards.
• Develop system designs balancing performance, manufacturability, and supportability.
• Provide technical direction to the design team and manage engineering change requests.
• Oversee prototype design/build and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Define test plans and lead validation/qualification of system designs.
