Job summary

NP Aerospace in Coventry seeks an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and integrate vehicle-borne electrical systems for defence and automotive applications. You will take concepts through detailed design, supporting projects that demand precision, reliability and practical problem-solving.

You’ll collaborate with the Lead Engineer, design harnesses, schematics and BoMs, and help integrate systems while considering cost, weight and performance targets. UK Security Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace or defence engineering environments.
• 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings experience.
• Knowledge of electrical system design including power distribution and charging.
• Experience producing electrical circuit diagrams and harness drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical harness assembly and vehicle systems.
• Experience with material selection and design for manufacture.
• Understanding workshop processes, fault diagnosis and problem solving.
• Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of engineering projects and align with lead engineer and suppliers.
• Develop project plans and ensure milestones are met.
• Design and prototype vehicle-borne electrical systems and harnesses.
• Produce CAD models, drawings, BoMs and work instructions.
• Integrate electrical systems into existing vehicle architectures and support diagnoses.
