Job summary

NP Aerospace Limited in Coventry is recruiting an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to design, prototype and integrate vehicle-borne electrical and mechanical systems for defence and automotive applications.

You will develop concepts through detailed design, create CAD models, BoMs, and drawings, and work with the Lead Engineer to deliver robust solutions on time, ensuring cost, quality and performance targets are met.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace or defence engineering environments.
• Experience in concept development, detailed design, 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical system design including power distribution, battery charging, lighting or communications systems.
• Experience producing electrical circuit diagrams and harness drawings using design software.
• Knowledge of electrical harness assembly, automotive specifications and vehicle electrical systems.
• Experience with material selection, structural performance assessment and design for manufacture.
• Practical understanding of workshop processes, fault diagnosis and problem-solving.
• Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of engineering projects and product-line requirements.
• Design and prototyping of vehicle-borne electrical systems including harnesses, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Produce drawings, CAD models, BoMs and work instructions for modification, installation and manufacture of vehicle systems.
• Integrate electrical systems into existing vehicle architectures and consider battery charging, power distribution, lighting and radio communications.
• Assist fault diagnosis and development of CAN bus solutions and vehicle upgrades.
