Job summary

D R Newitt & Associates is recruiting a Lead Engineer for a high-volume food manufacturing site in Boston, Lincolnshire. You will lead the engineering team on shift, ensuring production equipment is maintained to high standards and drive reliability and continuous improvement across the operation.

The role offers 4 on 4 off days/nights, a site-wide performance bonus and a strong view on career progression within a growing manufacturing business. Training and external qualifications are supported.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering team in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding in a production environment.
• Experience with conveyors, packaging machinery and automated lines.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement and engineering standards.
• Able to coach and support engineers while remaining hands-on when needed.

Job description

A well-established food manufacturing business are looking to recruit a Lead Engineer for one of its high-volume production sites in Boston, Lincolnshire.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead from the front on shift, supporting the engineering team while ensuring production equipment is maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the autonomy to identify improvements, implement engineering solutions and help shape the future of the site.

Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, reducing downtime, improving asset reliability and supporting ongoing investment projects across the factory.

You’ll Need

• Previous experience as a Lead Engineer, Engineering Team Leader or Senior Multi-Skilled Engineer
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills within a manufacturing environment
• Experience working with conveyors, processing equipment, packaging machinery and automated production lines
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and driving engineering standards
• The ability to lead, coach and support engineers while remaining hands-on when required
