Job summary

The Beardwood Hospital in Blackburn is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance Department on a full-time, 37.5-hour week.

This role offers up to £46,000 per year, depending on experience, with responsibilities including engineering maintenance, budget reporting, and energy management across the hospital.

Candidates should have City & Guilds Part 3 or equivalent, CSCS/ECS cards, and proven leadership in hospital maintenance; on-call coverage will be required.

• Proven experience in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or similar critical services environment.
• Strong fault-finding, organisational, and communication skills.
• CSCS/ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering maintenance and breakdown support to The Beardwood Hospital.
• Manage and report on M&R budgets, reviewing and commenting as appropriate.
• Support environmental and energy reduction initiatives within the site.
• Offer Health, Safety and Environmental support to senior staff and hospital managers.

Salary: Up to £46,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Beardwood Hospital Is part of Circle Health Group , Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineerto join our team of staff in the Maintenance Department.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

The provision of Engineering Maintenance and breakdown support to the hospital.

Management and reporting of R & M budgets, reviewing and commenting as appropriate.

Management of Environment and energy reduction

Provide competent Technical, Health, Safety and Environmental support & assistance to ED’s and local Hospital Managers, Project Managers and / or Minor works Managers.

Work with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the management tools necessary to operate their facilities to the required standard.

Liaise with the Regional Engineering Manager and Hospital Operations Manager to support and advise on appropriate engineering issues

Cover your cluster sites to meet on-call requirements.

Attend regional/cluster meetings and training courses when required

Provide support to sites within your cluster when required for Holiday, sickness, Vacancy’s, and or general support provision

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

CSCS card or ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.

Proven experience in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or similar critical services environment.

Experience in team leadership, task allocation, and performance management.

Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, including risk management, fire safety, and Legionella prevention.

Strong fault-finding, organisational, and communication skills.
