ZENOVO in Bristol is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer for a hands-on technical leadership role focused on safety-critical embedded software. The position is hybrid, based in Bristol, with an emphasis on Embedded C and RTOS technologies.

The candidate will lead embedded projects, design low-level software, and mentor other engineers, while collaborating on architecture, validation and compliance efforts within a UK-based team.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in engineering/science/technical discipline.
  • Strong Embedded C skills.
  • Experience with RTOS, preferably FreeRTOS or SAFE RTOS.
  • Low-level embedded experience, ideally ARM Cortex.
  • Experience in safety-critical environments.
  • Experience with embedded networking (TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Experience with software architecture, requirements and configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical aspects of embedded software projects.
  • Design, develop and test low-level embedded software.
  • Work with C, assembler and RTOS technologies.
  • Contribute to software architecture and technical design.
  • Debug hardware/software integration issues.
  • Lead code reviews and promote software best practices.
  • Support safety-critical validation, certification and compliance.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
